For many years, I have been fascinated with all of the unintended consequences of color and water, when merged onto paper.  As I explored the medium and learned to make intended consequences a part of the scheme, I also realized that painting without an emotional expression leads to mediocrity.  I believe the words I once heard that, before beginning a painting, one must realize why it is being done.  Otherwise, emotion is not likely to be felt or seen in the painting.

My background includes a career in architectural practice beginning with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the Oklahoma State University and including elective studies in the School of Fine Art with professors Dale McKinney, Louise Evans, Jay McVicker, and Doel Reed.

Since 2002, watercolor workshops, each of 40 hours length, were completed at the Scottsdale Artists School and in Colorado Springs with artists Frank Webb, Harold Nelson, Bill Lundquist, Catherine Gill AAWA, Betty Carr, and David Becker MWS.  Beginning in 2007, I joined an artists’ co-op in west Colorado Springs where the artist/mentor is Herman Raymond, a renowned American painter.
